I have found one place that I can get parts I just don't want to have to spend $3000. on parts I am hoping to find some good used parts  (a new brake band is almost $1000.) the clutch I hope I can get them relined,

Hey..I was going to start a topic n this but someone beat me to it!

I have an 8G winch that I am freshen up myself. OK..all bearings, I read the numbers off of directly and bought everything off ebay, for a big savings. I am not talking junk, like for like brand bearings. I don't have mine here at home shop but mine had all US made MRC bearings, and I found new old stock, 1/4 the price.

We in NY have FleetPride that can re-line the brake band, for a great savings. The hard parts, a bit of a challenge, but found a place that has most everything I need, BUT jury is out, because I am waiting for them to "price " everything, but comparatively speaking, they look very fair.Main internal seal, NAPA by diamention ..gaskets..POOF..Ultra gray gasket maker, when used as per directions..works perfect

gary.. the brake band can be reproduced at a good fab shop and as you prob know, for a lot less then some of these guys that want to retire off selling you a used or new one. We have had bands rolled up, and match the sample exact.

My problem in my 8G,  was that some one hacked up the springs, spring saddle and other brake parts. I wish I had the drawings then I would make everything. I reached out to whoever I could, have found most parts, and had to find to a few others but heard nothing as of yet.

This is the last major component of my total skidder restoration/rebuild and I will not fail!!  :)
