Inspector to grade framing lumber in Delaware?
« on: March 07, 2018, 10:18:08 PM »
I have a milling job opportunity in Smyrna DE that is contingent upon the client being able to have the milled lumber graded for use in a residential addition.

Please advise if you have the credentials and may be interested in this job.

Thanks,
John

The stamp belongs to the mill not the grader and may not leave the mill. You'll need to contact one of the grading agencies to have one of their graders come out, around here the closest is from Timber Products Inspections.

NeLma may have someone closer to you, I'd check with both.

Wisconsin has a neat program : local use dimension lumber grading. The program is run by the University of Wisconsin-Stevens in cooperation with the Department of Natural Resources. They have developed a one-day class and test you can take to be certified to produce lumber on your own sawmill. Then you can sell the wood to the end user for structural use.
