Is yours like mine....try it.
« on: May 09, 2018, 08:58:43 PM »
You see the shiny screw that holds the forward reverse handle on?

After my mill warms up and I've been sawing for a while, me or anybody can hold their finger on it no more than 8 seconds.....if you do it will burn your finger like fire.

I just happen to have my finger on it while sawing some Black Oak yesterday and I suddenly jerked my hand back thinking I had been stung by a bee....I mean it hurt!

Got to touching it and it was hot as fire. not sure why but gonna take the face off tomorrow and see what's touching it...if anything.

Touch yours and see if its hot. Could be just the Wideheads or could be just mine but I'm gonna find out.  ::)

Your drum switches most likely need electric grease. Take your front cover off and you will see when you engage the switch it sparks. Or in your case starts welding  :D
There should be a little cup of grease in the side cover of your control station.

I did not saw today as I was working on my dump trucks HD Cylinder.
But I did take the face off the control panel.
126 hours on my mill and I hate to say it but not a lick of grease on any of the drum switches where it makes connection.
All wires looked secure. Just no grease and it would make a grinding when using the forward reverse feed lever.
I put a film of grease on all the switches and will test to tomorrow.

I suspect it has to do with the whole sticker holding in place, non factory, aftermarket, modification that mill has seen to pimp it up.   :D

Good Idea.  Thanks, too, to the Forum and folks like PostonWideHead for making us aware of stuff going on with our mills.
