Lombard AP42
« on: September 25, 2018, 11:54:02 AM »
Hello.  I bought a Lombard AP42 back in 1980.  I still have it and it still runs.  The muffler is no longer a muffler and to say itís loud is an understatement.  Anyone know where I can find a muffler for this model saw.

The AP 42,Comango,Lightning are all about the same .The early models just had a stub spark arrester which isn't really a muffler .Loud enough to raise the dead and make dogs howl .The design was about the same as a Homelite XL-12 only a little larger .The last of this series had a pressed together crankshaft /connecting rod assembly and an automatic chain oiler .
Parts are where you might find them,Ebay,Scott at Chainsawr .I don't know if a muffler from a Homelite would work or not .
Actually it was a Comango that got me interested in collecting ,restoration .

In  my opinion those saws don't have muflers, just exhausts.
On mine you can see the piston through the exhaust, and it is LOUD! Maybe I am just too accustomed to newer saws?

Back in the late 60's when I was cutting pulp wood I use one and it was loud then would tickle your ears when you ran it. But it was very popular saw around here for pulp wooders.
