2008 gmc good bad
« on: September 30, 2018, 04:46:19 PM »
Conisidering a truck purchase. Undecided but not really looking either. But drinking coffee searching the web I see and 2008 gmc 2500 4x4 with the 6.0 gas automatic. Seems decent with 134,000 miles. Dad has a 09 1500 thatís been great. Anyone have anything on the 2500 or 3500 would be about the same. Thanks.

I have a 2007 Chevy 2500 4X4 with 180K miles.  I purchased it with 90K miles and have used it to pull a log trailer that I loaded pretty heavy (up to 20,000 pounds).  It has done everything I have asked it to do.

It should be a reliable vehicle if it has been well cared for. Have it thoroughly inspected, it likely needs front end work and brakes by now. If it is local, rust may be a serious issue after ten years.

I have a 2003 3500.
It has 148k on it. No engine or tranny issues to speak of.
Iíve hauled my dump trailer with 2 cord of wood in it.
My gooseneck trailer with 12 round bales on it.
I have replaced all the brake lines, fuel lines and tranny cooler lines.
I did back into a big stump and break one of the exhaust manifolds off.
Rust is minimal due to me oiling it every year.
If it has been taken care of it would be a good purchase.
Work hard. Be rewarded.

The 6.0 is a dependable engine and low mileage drop in engines are around. 4L80E trans ? I've got an 07 GMC 3500, Duramax/ Allison and it's been kind of a money pit with 124k miles. Of the 3 brands I think the GM's live the longest.

08-13 is ratted at the top for reviews on trucks. Not sure if itís Allison or not.
