moodna crick I like that idear..except for 2 things..if they miss a good piece, kiss it goodbye.  Maybe one of the pullers needs to take a leak and the sawyer dont notice.  It wont accumulate on a green chain, itll just be chipper food.  I like the idea of having a slab dump at the end trimmer.  That way the end trimmings and the slabs find their way to the chipper in one spot, and the trimmer main gives you more bang for your buck, and gives sawyer one less thing to keep track of.  I know of multiple guys who saw solo with a vertical edger, and they love it.  Its two steps instead of three, saw cab, green chain, saw cab, green chain...cut lumber in one shot from the saw cab. niice

4x4, none of the products you mentioned demand much in the of accuracy.  For example,  pallet cants down here +/- 1/4" unless they get picky on us, crane mat timbers +/- 1/2" and don't even have to be all that square, grade +/- 1/8" unless its a special order, primary breakdown just take the bark off and make it squareish, dimension lumber all gets run thru a 4 head moulder anyway.

As you can see WAY different specs in the south where those mills are made.

Over 2.5 million bdft sawn with a Baker Dominator and counting.

When we get an order for bridge timbers we saw them on the the Dominator cause the meadows can't hold the +/-0 tolerance they want.

4x4; the sawyer would have a push button or foot pedal to stop/start the belt. [I have a overhead lever] I could never figure out a way to handle v. edger output on my set up.    Am very interested in your project.                        P.S. The old timers always called it the 'crick'.

Do they have a linebar? You can do a lot to improve dimensional tolerance if you have a linebar: SOP here with this springy eucalypt stuff is to vary the pressure on your carriage knees against the linebar to compensate for log spring, which gets rid of a lot of the thick and thin issues that cause dimensional variations.

diagram on page 15.

The quickest way to make a million dollars with a sawmill is to start with two million.

Yea Im not really worried about it for what Im doing..what I mainly cut is cants grade and ties.  None of which have to be perfect.  The pallet shop I sell to now sends the important size cants through a sizer first anyways.
