Highly Persistent Walnut tree - needs a little TLC . . .
« on: April 28, 2019, 01:26:37 PM »
. . . or something.

This black walnut got struck hard by lighting - twice - 25 years ago.  I'd like to take it down because dropping limbs and what not is quite a pain, but it has a strong will to live, so I'm left alone.  Every year I think it will be the last but it carries on.  It still produces a lot of nuts.

Not highly valuable black walnut, but it continues to amaze me.

I have a weeping cherry in my front yard each spring I expect won't green up, but every year it does. Both major leaders have been cut off, it's full of carpenter ants, and most of the bark is sloughing off the trunk. As long it turns green, it can stay. In better days, it was my daughter's favorite tree. Now it's just a marvel that it exists at all.
