Deutz mdl. 2011 built 2007 trouble
« on: July 09, 2019, 12:21:43 PM »
How can I cheat the 12v fuel shut off so that it is always on ? This engine has a mechanical fuel stop lever that is not normally used. I have tried both hotting and grounding the solenoid that has one terminal on it but engine will not fuel unless the electric system and touch pad is used. I can crank it no problem but I can not turn on the fuel. This electric system must be removed as it is not reliable running in fine sawdust. I don't care about the shut down or the gauges or the charging system as all of this stuff is extra baggage and nothing but trouble. Thanks in advance, Doug.

A solenoid is just a wound coil that creates magnetism when current flows through it.  If one wire only then intuition says the case is grounded and the wire is 12v+ so youve done what needs doing.

Usually a shutoff is failsafe designed. Magnetically pulls in to run and spring pops it out to shut down.  Does this seem like the layout youve got?

Yes but when I touch a hot wire to this it clicks but no way will it fuel unless I go through the deep sea touch pad that has about 20 wires going to 4 relays. That engine control does something to the injection system that I can not duplicate so far.   Good to hear from you Mike. Any Ideas on what I am not seeing?

Post a pic of this shutoff solenoid.  Click is the sound of a relay's internal copper wiper contact closing.. Or a plunger contact plunging.  If the solenoid is what i think it is then it should stroke.  If it aint, the puck may be rusted up in the bore.

I can see there being several electronic conditions for the controller to move the shutoff to fuel on position, but if its only one wire into the solenoid then it only takes one thing to energize it and thats a completed circuit.  Pull it off, ground the case with jumper and hit the hot lug.  Ifn it dont pull in and you cant ungum it, replace.

[Unless im totally off on what this piece looks like]

Mike, this engine starts and runs fine when it is in the right mood. It is very touchy on starting and shutting down. It may run all day or 1 hour or refuse to do anything. I can jump the starter and inj. pump [rack] but it will not start while spinning over on the starter no matter what. However if the electronic controller decides to work it will start. This engine has only 50 hours since new[ not rebuilt] There is in my mind some control involved in allowing this engine to run that I can not see. I also never learned to do photos.

Oliver, called them this am. They are telling me what I thought all along that is that the jumping of the fuel rack allows the engine to fuel and cranking it should make it go. I am missing something here. Getting back to them this pm. Good to here from you also.

Yeah im kinda guessing what we are looking at here which is marginal at best.  Is this a mechanical injection pump and nozzles or a hpop, common rail whizzbang electronic show?

Now I find my mistake: what I called a fuel solenoid is a anroid? that pulls the rack open while the engine is cranking. Ahead of that is a square box that looks like a sensor but is a rubber seal/window where 2 wires go in to the inj. pump housing to shut or open the fuel supply. If I put 12v to it she will start when I jump the starter. Those Duetz boys called me back and pointed this out.   The only disappointment is that I cannot remove this internal control to eliminate electrical problems to come.  Thanks to F.F. members and the Duetz boys for coming to my rescue.
