gas tank
« on: July 05, 2019, 10:05:52 PM »
Squirrels developed a taste for my gas tank on my mill. Anyone know where I might find a 9 quart fuel tank for a 16 hp vanguard?
Any response is appreciated!!!

Had that problem once. It was a top corner so I tried patching with some kind of jbweld product. Still fine after several years.

I found some honda clone tanks on amazon that were affordable and worked well on another engine (it was a honda clone). Good value but would not mount on yours without mods.

Check with a shop that sells lawn and garden equipment, they may have a used tractor tank.

is it the one with a hole in the middle for the air filter?  that will be tough unless you want to remote mount something different.  I had them eat the corner off mine as well, but it was on my mill a cube one, my log splitter has a vanguard 18 hp.

Patch worked for me and was far less than $259.  Seemed to keep the squirrels away too.

Bonne chance.

I think the patch is going to be fine. I used aluminum flashing and plastic weld. The cap however, is a lost cause. Going to have to make an order.

Is this one similar to an outboard motor tank and hose system? If so you might check with you local boat motor dealer. Good luck.
