Woodmizer slab cnc
« on: July 23, 2019, 06:02:45 PM »
I just seen a movie on a FB group I'm on.
A company in Indy is testing a new Woodmizer 54 " cnc slab leveler and sander.
Made in the US looks nice
I think the slab and live edge craze is slowing down in New Hampshire.
I'm not getting many calls for them

I talked to a couple people at woodmizer indy.  Apparently they're looking at offering a machine similar to the Wood wizz.   I told them I thought they should use the MP100 platform to make a wide slab flattener.   You just need a mill bed and a wide head frame.  They didn't have any interest in that.  I'm planning to build one, with controls for clamping and moving.
Anything someone can design, I can sure figure out how to fix!
If I say it\\\\\\\'s going to take so long, multiply that by at least 3!

They make some really nice linear bearings/tracks.  Watch a yankee game for their advertisement behind the plate.  And if you simple move the bed left/right with electrically operated screws the hole system would be very stable and easy to make.  A couple of limit switches and bam, you have it.  My guess is $4000.  I think you will find a rendition at WM in the future.  There future monies are dependent on innovation, thatís what got them where they are today.  You have to wonder if every time someone types WM it shows up on a persons desk for review.  This forum has many million dollar ideas that are beyond cost effective to produce.  Itís a mil owners life.
Necessity is the mother of invention.  Poverty is its big brother.  WM mp100, WM eg100, WM sp4000 chip extractor,  WM 260 molder on order ,WM electric  lt15 wide with extra track, 71 Oliver allterrain forklift, 26' flat bed trailer, road legal log arch, homemade kiln, AutoCAD lt15
