2-4 Row Mechanical Planter
« on: December 08, 2005, 09:09:27 PM »
I am looking for preferably a 2 Row mechanical planter for my brother.  His Kubota does not have hydraulics so it has to be a mechanical planter.  4 Row will work but be prepared, he is cheap.

"Come into my den", said the spider to the fly, "and we shall speak of supper."  I just so happen to have in my posession, a John Deere Model 71 two row planter.

Well, Kirk, what do you think?  I showed one photo of a weld that seems to have held for a number of planting seasons.   I thought the main bar was solid, I now beleive that is only a piece of heavy tubing with the ends covered and welded shut.

Thanks Frank. I got them and have forwarded them to my brother.  I should here from him by tomarrow and I will get back to you.

What would be the best way to get that thing to Illinois?

For you to drive out here with your new trailer full of logs and leave here with a two row corn planter and not logs. 8)

Frank you are quite a character.  I am half tempted just so I could meet you face to face.  Problem with that is I would see more stuff I wanted and then have to build a bigger trailer.

What you going to do with that roller in the background of the planter pic?

No, the trailer would be large enough for what I would want to send to the East. ;D

You would not be obligated to build a larger trailer at all.  I have one that would surfice the job at hand.  You would be much happier with the one I sent home with you. 8)  In fact, it was built in Wisconsin; it was built by LaCross.  It has a capacity of about 40,000 lbs. ;)

Weeeeell, I belive there is a boom in PA that needs to go West so Kirk could recoup part of the cost that way.
By sending me out, he would save a TON of cash as he wouldn't be temped to buy more stuff.
I've got a couple things to look into out your way........ it's a win, win for everyone! ;)
What's a couple more thousand miles on Kirk's truck anyways. :D

Yep, Furby, you would just be giving it a bit of a longer test drive.  Besides, with friends like us, what else does Kirk need? ;D
