I get a newsletter every couple months, and in it they have local mills prices for logs. What was surprising this month is the rate for the lower quality trees like lodgepole pine (370) white fir (375) spruce (370) and pulp 28 to 32 a ton. Last year this was 245 to 265, and at 250 a thousand to get it to the mill, didn't leave much for the landowner. Are other parts of the country seeing this type of jump, or it just a local thing.

yup, pine went up 50 a thousand this summer. pulp I don't think went up much. could just be the wet weather we had this summer, we shall see. of course hardwood is strong here as export, shame our veneer mills are about all gone.
