One old NASTY RED OAK
« on: February 24, 2014, 06:14:11 PM »
The old log measured out at 415 BF.
I quarter sawed it…..lots of waste….log was in the rotting stage in the sap wood but gave some very nice splating along with snake skin markings.
Managed to get real close to 200 BF……it was worth the time.

Firewood if it snows again.  :D
I'll just let it air dry for a while….somebody will come by and show interest.

I put some 4/4 red oak in my new Nyle 200 a few weeks ago at 60%. It came out 3 days ago at 6%. No defects and used every board for flooring. That is some nice stuff for a log that was almost rotten.
