Are these pistons any good I have a 365 and a good 2171 cylinder I got a single ring meteor 50mm piston off flea bay for 25 bucks I was thinking of putting together but I heard some say aftermarket parts aren't very good? The 365 still runs good so if not I will just leave it alone but I'd rather have more power

Meteor pistons are the best AM piston on the market.  Most of the guys I know including myself use them.  Highly recommend.  Ordering 4 Meteor pistons today 2-064 Stihl, 2-266 Husky.  There are some other brands I have used KIC (Tiawan), AIP (India).  Have used Golf too.  The only thing on Golf I've found them to be heavier than OEM & Meteor.

if I don't use oem then meteor is the "only" other choice I will use.

I just put one in a Husky 350 I built. It was a real nice looking piston, good or better than oem. One thing I was warned, don't use the 2 eared wrist pin clips from the meteor kit. If they have 1 tail supposed to be ok, but the 2 tail ones some have had let go while running. I used the oem clips in mine.

I ran one in a 084 that I built up and used on a CSM. Ran the heck out of that saw milling lumber and I had no issues with it.

Meteor is actually an OEM supplier for certain applications to Husqvarna, Stihl, Jonsered, and Solo- mostly in the consumer lines and brush cutters/handheld blower models. So on one hand, you can say Meteor is aftermarket, but on the flipside of the coin- they're OEM as well. Tecomec is also an OEM supplier to all the big brands in certain applications.

While just a saw hack & not a pro, I tend to like empirical data vs. theoretical. So far several of my saws have meteor brand pistons with no problems. Also built a Jonsered 820 with a golf slug. No problems with that one either. (A famous member now has that top end on one of his work saws...still running)

Have been using Meteor pistons in my recent build's with no issues. I like that. More positive empirical data.

I had one of the tails come off, made a total mess of a ms460 cylinder. Looked like it went up and down 2 or three times before it wedged beside the top ring, forcing it into the exhaust port and locking the motor up tight. Oem clips for me from now on.

That's rough Jim, sorry. I have heard others say they didn't have any issues, but not willing to take the chance. I was able to reuse the oem clips in mine, but it was in good shape when I tore it down.

No worries, bought a oem takeoff p&c from Chainsawr and she's running strong again. :)
