How long before pine stains?  Supposed to rain but I will be gone and the wood will be sitting from now until Tuesday

If no choice, then let us know next week if it is stained. White pine?

I try to have at least 10mbf out before I call the truck driver.  I have been picking up residential tree jobs and letting the wood sit is starting to worry me with the weather starting to get nice.  Cant pass up the tree work though, the money is better and it mixes the week up. Ill keep my fingers crossed.

You should be all set. When my Father and me was cutting here,it would take us about 3-4 weeks for a load. Never heard the sawmill complain about blue stain. And you know they would. This was right in the summer months,July,August. Our wood yard was right out in the sun too.The rain and cooler temps will help too.

The pine should be just fine for a few weeks. Takes awhile for the stain to get working in there usually not a problem till July, August.

If dead stacked, and the moisture is right (wrong)  It certainly can mold in just a couple days.  I've seen wood completely glued together in a lumber stack that was cut on a friday, and left over the weekend.  I'd make sure the wood was stickered.

My mistake, I thought you were talking about lumber here, not logs.

Thanks for the replies!  I was contemplating cutting my vacation a little short (the wife was not on board).  This puts my mind at ease. Thanks again.

To heck with the blue stain, take the Bride on vacation or it could be red stain!
Don't worry, be happy  ;D

That's a great way to look at it!  We almost forgot that blue stain is now "Denim Pine" and worth twice as much as just plain old pine. ;) :)

I wouldnt sweat it to bad, I just put 20mbft of beautiful pine butt logs in the yard, it takes 4-6 weeks of super hot weather before we notice it. Sawed lumber is a whole other story.

I was trying to figure out how to sticker logs and how they would get glued together until I read Jeff's next post.  In my mind I had a log pile rolling all over the place. :D

By all means take the wifey on vacation. When you get older you will see that life is short. I always say if I went to a nice steak house and thought I would eat healthy and eat a salad that sure enough I would get down the road and pull out at a redlight and someone would run it and tbone me and kill me. Last thought that would go through my mind would be. "I wish I would have had that steak".
Give me a new saw chain and I can find you a rock in a heartbeat.
