I was doing some work clearing off a lot for a friend to build his house when I cut this down. He said it was an oak, I am almost sure it isn't but I do not know what it is?

I'd say cherry as well, I've got a nice 24" log of that waiting for spring.

Thanks everyone, I saw mostly Oak, Poplar, and Pine so I wasn't sure it was Cherry since I am not accustom to it.

So for sure you knew it wasn't oak (as your oak has the rays that are quite obvious, and this cherry does not).

Blade,

I agree with Cherry. First thought was pine but young cherries around here will have shaggy bark like that.
