Just have to say, though I dont post very much, I'm always checking this forum and soaking up all the useful info on here!  This Forum is hands down the best group of people compared to the generally USELESS FORUMS out there...

I posted a question to a polaris ranger forum trying to see if anyone could tell me if some annoying clunking was normal on my Ranger 570 and though I've had nearly 100 views, not one single person has taken the time to say if they have the same issue!

Makes me appreciate this group.

An interesting observation, considering I just finished reading a thread on this forum about splitting firewood in space.   :D :D :D :D :D

I would venture to say that the FF mentions the Goat more than than the Goat Forum.  I could be wrong.

Good point!

Its probably nothing but it really seems to make alot of clunking from the front/rear axles and even driveshaft when its in all wheel or just rear drive.  Put it into the fancy "turf" mode and its fine.  I hadnt noticed it before but its been on snow or muddy so maybe its just fetching up because its getting good grip now... I've owned enough 4x4 or all wheel drive stuff to think it just dont seem right.  Figured if it was the way it operated other Ranger owners would say so.  Instead they say nothing!  Not real impressed with the fancy all wheel drive, turf mode etc for a sxs but I'm old school for a young guy, despise electronics.

Have you ever changed tires? Had a Ford Ranger P/U 4WD once. Put two new tires on the front or back. Don't remember. Different manufacture but same size. No problem in 2WD, ran for sometime till one day snow was on the road. Can't remember if it was when I locked in the hubs or put in 4WD but you would have thought the front end was coming out of it. Just enough size difference in either the different brands or two worn and two newer to cause the noise.

Didn't find the cause of the problem until I replaced all 4 tires and it went away.
Give me a new saw chain and I can find you a rock in a heartbeat.

My Ranger is an 06, so I have no idea about "turf mode".
An annoying clunking sound ain't normal. Mine got an annoying clunking sound a few years ago when the guy driving it got hung up on a stump. Messed up a cv joint on the rear, and the buttons on the clutch. I think it was a little north of $600 to get it fixed.
Terminating the drivers employment...priceless.  ;)

These newer Rangers have a 3 position rocker switch for selecting either all wheel drive (true all 4 wheels i belive, diffs locked), just rear locked or "turf" mode which is just the rear with open differential so you dont tear up your fancy blue grass on your lawn i guess  ???

I'm really hoping its normal, it really only does it during hard over turning... mostly.

Same tires and the dang thing only has 26hrs on it!

I do visit a Ford owners forum and an RV forum.  On both of them, you can get cut up pretty badly if you ask or answer a question in a way that some of the jokers on there don't like.  Totally uncaring and senseless.

Here "dumb questions" are welcomed and the atmosphere is always congenial.   8)

Pensacola Fishing Forum is a distant second, as long as you don't ask for someone's fishin' hole. They are pretty helpful with equipment questions. But there there are a lots of older and mature young people on there. People that have the where-with-all to own and maintain a boat that you can trust your life to. But still a distant second.

Alligator,

I have no problem with people asking me where my fishing holes are or what I used for bait as long as they don't really expect me to tell them the truth. Spring break 1989 my son was 10 y/o and we met Dad on Swannee River where dad was raised. We were catching big stings of big catfish every morning on set hooks. Run lines then throw fish in #2 washtub and go eat breakfast. People would come in after seeing fish in Dad's p/u and asked who caught them and where. Dad would never crack a smile just point to Sean and say That boy caught them down in the canal/ditch by the road using a cane pole and grasshoppers. By the end of the week Sean was agreeing and said had to quit because all he could carry or he'd run out of grasshoppers. They'd leave and we'd finish and come out and see folks chasing grasshoppers along the right of way and in the median and fishing in the ditches.

I do concur this is a great place for information and entertainment. Thx to all who help make it so.

I've dealt with other forums about various topics. I've found some of them to be very slow in attendance (Okrafarmer and three guests are logged in) and thus nobody answers your question because nobody's on there--or else there is thick and fast cussing, swearing, insulting, lying, accusing, threatening, verbal abuse, name-calling, etc. that doesn't get moderated. Not to mention porn that nobody does anything about. Sick. I keep coming back here even when I'm not doing much with wood!

This forum seems to have a group of people the reflect the mutual respect and concern for others feelings that I was taught when I was growing up. Everyone seems to practice something my grandmother Casey (Mama Casey) would tell me "If you don't have something good or constructive to say, don't say anything". She lived to be 102 and managed her own finances past 100. She was a tough old lady with a lot of wisdom I didn't really appreciate when I was young, but can clearly see as I become old and see what is going on in the world around us.

Its been said many times before, the reason FF is so good is because of Jeff and the other moderators.  I've been on here close to three years and I saw two, possibly three people get ejected because they were not of the right caliber (old saying?).  The last one I had a bad feeling about from the start and he proved my gut feeling in short order!

I belong to four forums because of different interests - FF for timber framing, Pop Up Portal because of my camping trailer (a very close second to FF - because of great moderators), Case-Colt-Ingersoll lawn tractors, because of my Davis Little Monster and and Aquaponics site because of my garden - though I don't visit it much anymore.

Found them all via Google looking for a specific thing and each had multiple hits.

Odds are high that you have a u joint or cv joint going bad. Best to find it before it breaks.

No idea about  your ranger problem. BUT with 26 hours on it,I would be taking it back to the dealer,or have them come out and try it out.
Yes,this is a great forum. I have been to a couple, and ask the wrong question and kinda reminds me of 1st-2nd grade stuff.

I would second what Gary C said, could have possibly been bad right from the factory?
