Peter,Looks like a fun day at Deerfield.
We use to go to about 10-12 fairs. Use to watch alot of judging of cattle, goats and watch the pulling. After a while we got to know who will do good. Now we have a dog that we spoil and we don't like to leave the dog alone for a whole day. Most times we open the fair and leave around 5

2 more fairs,

They were found together, and had died. Fish and game set them up like they were when they were fighting. They're 6'+ at the shoulder.

The clapboard maker.

This mill will cut 44" wide.
Some slabs with 2 part expoxey on them,

$ 600,00 on some of them. No one was jumping on them, to much $
Best bull.

And some wagons, This one was the Queen's, Is over the top all wood, And the Gypsy wagons all wood carving. :o

How many HR to make one of them. :D

And the beast x 2  :o

But gentle,
And the ponys.

Easy pull.
Well back to work.

Those slabs looked to be badly overpriced.

A day at the fair is always fun. Which fair this time?
I see Thomas Bandsaw was there with thier wide one. I think the 8016 or 8020 model?

I thought so too, But at ½ the price is too much.

I find the rain keeps the crowd down. Except for Fryeburg.
We got the same rain. Did not start until around 2. A slow rain until about 9. Than it really came down.

Nice pictures, I really enjoyed the old machinery. Our 4 day fair wrapped up yesterday. I didn't go, too hot and crowded. Our little town of just under 5,000 sees 150,000 people go through the gates, couldn't get in with a crowbar Saturday morning during the parade.

Peter you weren't the only FFmember there in the rain. I brought my kids that day. All in all it was a good day but they were bummed the blacksmith wasn't there.

There were a lot of empty spots for venders. Some of the fairs are getting smaller I think.
Too bad.

I noticed the same thing about the empty spaces, certainly wasn't as many vendors as there was last year. I was hoping to catch up with a band mill dealer as I'm starting to be in the market, just my luck I didn't see one.

Peter Drouin

The Deer field fair will have sawmills. I know Wood Mizer will be there. 8)

I'm planning on going to Deerfield as well. My only concern is being able to pull my kids away from the blacksmith long enough to talk with the woodmizer guys. For whatever reason both of them are totally intrigued by the blacksmith.
And usually the sawmills and blacksmith aren't far apart. Maybe I can bribe them with French fries  :D

Peter Drouin

Do you go to the VT Tunbridge fair newoodguy?

I've always wanted to but haven't made it there yet it's definitely on my bucket list. Another one I'd really like to get to is fryeburg. I really enjoy the oxen events and hear they have a bunch of teams up there. If I can slip away I'm planning to go this year. Of course I've said that before  :D

thecfarm

Oxen don't really bring in the crowd that horses do. But I still see people in there an hour early to get a place to sit at Fryeburg.
I would like to go to Fryeburg this year. Have not been for along time. Hard for Brenda to walk alot. I leave her sittiing at something she likes and I walk and see the fair.

Pine beams cut with an ax, Not bad at all.

One cut with a WM.
The one in the truck sold when I was there.  8) Not to me. ;)
The logs for Ross to cut could not have more sand on them. ::)

And tractors, Must be a 100 of them. Big pull day.

Some are very nice.

And not to forget what part of the country I'm in  :D :D :D :D

Fryeburg Fair,
Did some looking around.

Ross sold a bunch of mills.

High John boy,  :D :D
With a spray set up.
And another nice one.

The 4H do a great job making the horses look good.

And the things they pulled.
Think how good the craftsmen were making a buggy like this.

Stuff ones. ;)

The best bull.

Missed ya Peter.  I was there on Wed. I have a thread on in the show, events. I took a picture of that sprayer too. Lots of craftmanship went into that. I took my camera to the car before I found WM and Thomas sawmill.

Had a good wet time at the Sandwich fair.
All the hard core tractor pullers in the rain.

The 4H was out too and into a barn.

And the young woodsmen and gals

Riding a horse at a 100 mph in the rain must be a challenge.  :D :D

The 4H is such a good thing for the young. I help when I can when they come to the mill for stuff.
