Executive Director: Job Description

The Michigan Forest Foundation (MFF) is searching for an Executive Director. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall administration and record keeping of the Foundation. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

•   Maintaining MFFs financial accounting maintaining fiscal records and checkbooks, invoicing, paying bills, preparing income statements and balance sheets.
•   Organizing MFF Board of Directors meetings make meeting room reservations, provide meeting notification to Board members, record Board meeting attendance, prepare the agenda, prepare and distribute meeting minutes, prepare data and information for Board review and consumption, and follow up on Board directives. Each year, the Executive Director is expected to attend quarterly board meetings of MFF which are held in East Lansing.
•   Handling routine correspondence.
•   Cooperating with the MFA (Michigan Forest Association) Webmaster in developing and maintaining the MFF web site.
•   Maintaining records for the use of the Wanigan Educational trailer arranging for transportation, and providing the Wanigan schedule of appearances to the MFA Webmaster. Presenting forest educational information at schools. Maintaining contacts with other organizations and traveling as needed to represent MFF. This includes attending the MFA Annual Meeting, Michigan SAF, and at least 2 agricultural tradeshows to promote the interests of MFF.
•   Advising the officers and board members of important issues, problems, and opportunities that MFF should address.

The Executive Director directly reports to the MFF Board of Directors. This is a part time position and salary will be commensurate with past experience but will be at least $35/hr and involve about 125-150 hrs of work each year. Any work related expenses such as travel will be reimbursed. The position will be initially for a year and renewed annually based on satisfactory performance.
