Tis the season

These cold days really don't help out my excavation business much! Not much fun putting in 9 hours of effort and getting 4 hours of work done!  But the bright side is, at least I get to fire up the mill and saw some lumber. I milled my first black birch logs the other day that I got from a house lot we just put in. I had them set aside for a few months and was dying to see what they looked like. 

I was not disappointed when I got into them!  i felt like I was working in a wintergreen factory! I've never smelled wood so fragrant!  The color and figure of the wood was so gorgeous, beautiful red with some bark inclusions , it's going to finish nicely. I only wish I had more of it!

Tis the season for me to start milling more and digging less!
