As I sit and think sometimes, it is nice to leave the door open.  Warm spring or summer day, nobody else around, and Dang sure nobody down in the cedar grove, where the unit is located.
Far as I can tell, it's 6 of one, half a dozen of the other...

The door swings out and is open when Iím there. Serves as advice to others that there may be rumbles sonic booms while a very small amount of pondering is going on.

I must be afraid of spiders and the dark. I had never realized all the careful thought and interior design decisions I was oblivious of  :D

Well, door ope is good provided it doesn't present other 'issues' such as having to get up really quick when somebody pulls in. I think your remedy has solved that issue nicely. If I ever come visit and see that door open, at least I'll know where to find you. ;D

Youngest son and I once stayed at an old camp on Fur Farm Lake outside McMillan, rumored to be the headwaters for the mighty Tahquamenon River. The old privy was infested with spiders and we were deep into mosquito season, so door open was not an option. Our solution was to fog the little building with Yard Guard to discourage the spiders, slam the door shut against the bloodthirsty mosquitoes and hold yer breath....

That is, until we read the safety warning on the product label...Call 911 immediately if you inhale this product.....  :o

Then there was the time we shot bottle rockets at my BIL using the outhouse at deer camp, a "whole nother story"... :D

When someone gets to talking to me about "the good old days" I always tell them "You obviously don't remember outhouses do you?" :D

My thoughts...
1. You did the right thing.
2. It definitely was a right hand door and is now a left hand door, but is that the same thing as a left handed outhouse.  I mean, did you ask the outhouse how it felt.
3. Aren't you concerned that Tammy could come along and lock you in there with the outside latch.  I think I would want a latch that was operable from both sides.

If Tammy ever decides to lock me in there, I reckon I deserved it!
