A lady called me a little while ago wanting to have one hickory tree sawn into lumber.  She's too far away for me.  Is anybody closer I can point her at?

I'm camping right on the pasco-hernando line under some beautiful hickories at the moment. Wish I had the mill with me. Send me the particulars and I'll see if I can work anything out.  Spring break is coming up so I might be able to make a day of it.  Got to send some blades off to be sharpened since I haven't been cutting much.

Ok, I'll see if I can work a day in to do the job justice.  If someone else see this and wants to jump in, go for it.

Well, I'm bowing out. I was looking forward to a nice small job for my manual mill. However, when I got home from my camping trip I find out that one of my elder uncles got taken by a tree surgeon.  Talked him out of money before the job was done.  We all know how much work gets done after payment.  He was having a large water oak removed and the guy dropped half the branches and left them where they lay and hauled tail.  He also left several whole trees laying where they fell along his fence line. I lack the means to finish taking the tree down but I can help cut up the debris.  It isn't entirely a mission of mercy because I will get some wood from some work he did complete for my uncle's neighbor.  I can cut in half a day what he'll take a month and likely keel over from.

Nomad, sorry to sound interested and bail.  If you've told her to look for a call from me, I will follow up and apologize for not being able to get there and perhaps can do it at a later date.  Grad school is such a time sink, I thought this might up with spring break and work out well all around. I also know of a couple of folks I could put her in touch with, who are not on this forum but I don't know them we'll enough to vouch for them, just know of them and they are closer.

Thirty plus years in the sawmill/millwork business. A sore back and arthritic fingers to prove it!
