do these require more hydralic pressure? i only see bar saws around here, why dont people use them around here. i see all the piles that they cut next to loaders up north. they dont have that much wood cut up around here next to the knuckleboom.

Up here, you only see circle saw slashers. I've never seen a bar saw unit around these parts. Slashers here tend to do a lot of multiple stems, I think the circle saw has a little more grunt for that. Pictures I've seen of bar saw units, it looks like they are working 1 tree at a time.

I've run a circle saw slasher before. At times it seemed under powered, but that was overcome by the momentum you have with the circle saw. If you don't have enough oomph with a bar slasher is simply won't cut. With a circle saw, you can list it back up, let it regain its speed, and cut on.

All circular saw slashers here as well. The only bar type I ever saw was mounted on a skidder to cut pulpwood sized softwood and was nothing a large operator would even fart around with. I could cut as much with a chain saw, type of thing.

yes but it takes a lot of oil.......i would think at least 75 gal. a min.    dont even think bout runing a slasher with your 110 prentice.

My boss is running a circular slasher saw on his prentice loader. It will cut multiple stems at a time without too much trouble. But as said it requires a lot of hydro flow to keep that big heavy saw blade spinning.
