I have a 019 I just picked up that with a new pull cord and a very quick carb clean started idles and revs good, as soon as it hits a log it bogs down and stalls, fires right up again and does the same.  It only has the low speed screw and I am thinking I should just find a 2 screw carb and upgrade f I'm going to tear it down that far.  Does this sound reasonable or am I complety off base?

Make sure the muffler/spark arrestor is not clogged.

piston may be scored. how is the compression?

Josh Stihl

Muffler was clean, compression seems good (my gauge is not accurate, but it matches a know good saw) fires up with 2 pulls almost every time, I think maybe monday I'll just tear it apart.

Take pictures before you take it apart.  Those things are like a jigsaw puzzle.  There are a lot of pieces in there.
I don't try to explain to others why I play with chainsaws.  For those who already know, no explanation is needed.  For those who do not, no explanation is POSSIBLE!
