I'm going through the back brakes on my Timberjack — the threaded rod back there is stripped so it's making them hard to adjust. I'm changing out the rod, brake pads, ball springs and outside dust seal. I've never done anything with the brakes before — can anyone give me some advice or point me to a post or video where I can learn how?

Go into both sides to see if any difference from one side to the other, then do one side only so you can copy the other side.

On a 230E the transfer case should be an Eaton with the brakes on the bottom shaft. Brake system is simple on those, the biggest thing is to keep the T/C oil from getting out on the brakes. Get new seals and a collar for the bottom shaft plus when you assemble it make sure to put silicone sealer on the shaft splines because oil will seep past and ruin you brake job.

sand blast all the rust/oil out of housing and if the balls a pitted replace also. grind the expanding disks if they are glazed.
