I just had a guy give me a 2159.  I dont know anything about smaller j reds  What can you tell me about this saw?  What husky does it match up with?

It is considered homeowner, but it is built on the same pro grade crankcase as the 357xp without the bells on the crankshaft. Just different top ends.

if it needs a top end would it be worth the 357xp top end?  would it just be a jug and piston swap

Husky calls the 359 a "Landowner" saw. Shares some features with pro saws (including the fact that it's easier to work on than the homeowner saws). I know of at least one school that uses 359s for their forestry student classes. A solid saw that doesn't break the bank.
