Is Rust Reaper good for...
« on: November 15, 2007, 11:00:06 PM »
...the following application?

My plow truck gets a lot of snow blow back through the grill and into the engine compartment.  The throttle cable has rusted, prolly still has water down inside, and freezes/seizes up such that I often have to jab the accelerator to get it to snap back to idle.  In addition to taking care of rust problems, will Rust Reaper help repel moisture and provide a bit of lubrication for the cable?

You can bet your bippy!! :D

It's a better lubricant than wd and creeps so good that you can put it on the outside of a steel wound cable and it will find its way in.  Smells good too.

I put some on my forehead at the Moultrie show a couple of years ago and it kept the gnats away,

I don't know what it would do for catfish bait, but it might fix flat feet.  ;D

Ordered.  Hope it gets here before turkey day.  Unlikely but we'll see.  Tom, I told them I only ordered it cause you said it repels gnats.  ;D

Tom:

I'm laughing :D  I remember you using RR at Moultrie for gnats.  I've got a hunch that gnats are not the problem in Fairbanks as they are in South Georgia.  Thanks for responding to Warbird's post.

Warbird, Rust Reaper ought to work well on the control cables.  I've used in on several similar applications and there was a thread on the Forestry Forum some time ago regarding freeing up throttle cables.

We'll ship today.  Please let us know what you think of it.

Mike

Thanks for the info, Mike.  After reading more about the product, I'm real eager to try it out.  Will let you know how it goes.
