Title: 540D winch driveline vibration
Post by: midwestlogger on June 08, 2010, 08:57:14 PM
does anybody have a fix for a 540D winch driveline vibration? I even installed a brand new shaft from John Deere and the driveline still wobbles.

Four things to check if all the bearings are tight.
1. With machine straight ahead are the faces of the yoke on the winch and trans output parralell vertically and horizontially?
2. Is the drive shaft in phase?
3. With the machine straight ahead is the shaft centered on the hinge pin?
4. Check runout on both yoke faces or on output shaft at tranmissionand input shaft at winch, could be bent shaft causing wobble.
The winch or transmission may have shifted out of line, if it is the transmission you should have some reaction in the cross hinge drive line.

Check too see if there is play in the splines on the yoke or the shaft of the winch. On my 440, I have the same problem, and thats whats causing it
