New twist on gas and go

Yesterday there was a motor home fire at a gas station which is on my route to work. Police say the trio were parked over the storage tank caps pumping gas through a hole in the floor into a large tank. Two men are in critical condition, a woman escaped and somehow made her way to a neighboring city where she sought treatment for burns. Apparently police are well acquainted with the perps. ;D Ignorance has limits but stupidity knows no bounds.

Kinda like the meth head drilling through the bottom of an anhydrous tank a few counties over "getting" product for his lab eh?

Not quite on the same level, but one of my clients once pulled into a gas station towing a burning boat.  :D

He was a well known local businessman, on the city council etc. Anyway he was working on his boat outboard motor, and had problems. He was one of those "all go" guys, so he lifted the engine, hooked it to his car, and started hauling it to the boat shop to be fixed. What he didn't know is he had caught the battery cable, it shorted out, and caught fire. So he's now driving down the road with smoke pouring out the back of the boat. People start waving to him.. so he waves back.... Then he notices he's short on gas, so pulls into the local gas station. By now flames are coming out of the boat. Understandably the servo staff are impressed by a burning boat pulling up to the pumps  :D

Anyway he pulls the boat though and back out onto the road and they hit it with extinguishers and put it out before the fuel tanks goes up.

But it took a while to live that one down.

Some years ago there was a story of a gas station owner who would steal credit card numbers, then, in the middle of the night he'd take a car with a custom 200 gallon gas tank to another station and fill it up at a self serve pump. He'd then put the gas in his stations tanks and sell it.

Didn't catch fire, but eventually he got caught.
