A couple of questions about the AC 36

James, on the front of the mill (just behind the loading arms on the main frame are pockets that would accommodate a 2 x 2 inch tube.  I am thinking that that would be to put in a offset stop for when turning extra big logs.  Question is do you folks a t Cooks saw have a diagram of what would be good dimensions to build a couple of these.  These poskets are about 5 inches deep and have a partial bottom in them.  See picture.

 

Also I have a question as to what the purpose is for the pocket on the other side of the mill.  It would accommodate a 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 square tubing.  It has no bottom and has a bolt tapped into the side of it.  Is that possibly for a couple extra supports?  See picture.

  

I bought this mill new from Cooks several years ago, and think its time I learned what those pockets are really for.  I thought I would post here on the forum so that others that have this mill could benefit from your answer.  Thanks  Tim Scruggs  (Banjo Picker)

Hey Tim,

Correct, the tubing that accommodates the 2x2 tubing (there will be two of them) is for a set of 'log blockers' that slide in place that make turning logs larger than 32" a breeze.
I'll email you some dimensions on those tomorrow.


 

The tubing that accommodates the 1-1/2 square tubing is the 'log lift holder' that is used to help secure your log lift in the up position while traveling. You would have received this piece when you originally got your mill. It's just a piece of tubing with a long piece of flat bar attached to it that slips over the peg located on one of the feet of the log lift.

James, thanks a bunch....I will be on the look out for the diagram.  I went to where I have my tongue for the mill stored and just as you say .... I found the flat bar and the smaller tubing.  It’s been a few years and I had forgot that.  Tim delivered the mill for me and I was mainly concerned with how to cut ties with it at the time.  The only move I have ever done is from one side of the shed it’s under to the other side.... and that was the first week I got it.  Looking forward to getting the diagram.  It looks much simpler than the one I had in my head.
