Title: Shiplap
Post by: Bandit on April 29, 2007, 05:37:23 AM
Want  some input on milling shiplap and tounge and groove lumber.  I own a sawmill and woodmaster planner/moulder.  Want only enough to do inside and outside of 30X32 garage.  Can do with planner but, seems like much set up and not certain I can do wider than 6".  Someone mentioned a router?  Any ideas?

Can't give you much info on shiplap, but use the search unction, you will find a lot of info, pros and cons of different methods.

shiplap is pretty easy to do with just a table saw. :)

I do small amounts of shiplap and T&G using my big 3hp router and a homemade router table. Works OK for small amounts, making toyboxes and fish tank stands etc. But I think if I was panelling a whole building (Twice) I'd either be looking for a shaper with a power feeder or hiring the job out to someone with a multihead planer / moulder.

A dedicated shaper might be a good investment to go with your other gear though?

Cheers
