Distressed finish

I have a request to build a farm table and they would like it done with a distressed finish. Any technique and product recommendations to achieve this?

A picture of what you are looking for would be helpful, there's a wide range of options for a range of outcomes.

I've used chains, rocks, sticks & files to distress. Shoot a base coat then used a glaze in the holes/marks, wipe clean and then shoot a couple coats of clear.
