I have heard that the most sustainable tree species is red oak. I dont know why its not pine, but go figure. Maybe one day we will see oak 2x4s in the box stores... they'll prolly be more like 1" x 3" though

I think all wood is perfect for something. Some is perfect for indoor or outdoor furniture, some is perfect for building, some is perfect for making paper products, some is even perfect for running through the chipper to lay down on a walking trail.  :D
