Here are my first two. (other then the Monkey boy pictures I posted elsewhere on the forum) ;D
Dan (WV Hillbilly) surprised us again! He made us this BEAUTIFUL DISPLAY PLAQUE! Anybody want to guess what species its made from?
THANKS DAN!
Dan, Me, and da plaque. :)

We were honored to have the the USDA accept our invitation to be part of the Forestry Forum's display and meeting area to give out information, and have staff on hand to talk to people about the Emerald Ash Borer. Pictured is Sharon Lucik, who came and set up the display and was absolutely swamped friday talking to people and helping educate the public with current EAB facts.
Sharon, it was great of you to come and the Forestry Forum looks forward to working with you again.

Whose dat little guy with Dan?
Yep, Dan even makes me look small and I am 6'1". :D
Who is this old Cuss? ;) :D
Ya know, DanG and I have been friends for going on 4 or 5 years and just met for the first time in person at Sawlex. Man, I am a lucky fellow to have all of these great people to call friends, :)
Not sure how I got caught in between these guys when this was my camera!
Buzz and Kirk came together, I think this photo was either Thursday night or early Friday,
(https://forestryforum.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/buzz_me_kirk.jpg)
It was almost impossible to catch people with a straight face. We had such a great time, all the time. Here I caught Tammy and Tammy flashing signs to the webcam. :D
Chet and Jude, we really did miss having you there, as well as all the other forum members that could not make it. I hope the webcam, and all of Populous's work helped relay some of all the fun that was going on at Sawlex.

Here is Mr. Tom and Mrs, and lil' Miss Stumpjumper and some dude with his back to the camera.

Here is one of the many banners that member GareyD (part of the grits express) created for the Forestry Forum area. We really had a big spot. Equal to Sawmill and Woodlot Magazine, the show hosts. I'll let other members describe that a little bit better, but I will say THE FORESTRY FORUM ROCKED THE HOUSE! ;D
If you ever need some banner work or printing done, HIRE GAREY! :)
This banner was created after a design I had for a poster. All of the light background text on this banner is different forestry forum thread topics.
Much of the time it was standing room only at the Forestry Forum meeting spot. :)
Here are a couple photos I took early on of our area.

Shown here, sporting the latest in fashion earwear is our gal Roxie with a pair of Forestry Forum keychains Tammy made. Lookin good Roxie! 8)
Next to Roxie is one of the guys that didnt show up at Sawlex, Pigman. :D to your left of Pigman is Rmay clear from Arkansas!
The first evening of the Shootout, Sawmill and woodlot had a brief meet and greet for the exhibitors. Here are a couple of our admins in deep discussion.
The topic? I think it was "Domestic or Import?" :D
(https://forestryforum.com/gallery/albums/userpics/10001/ron_tom.jpg)
8) 8) 8) 8) We got back from Texas with the shingle mill about 6:30 tonight 8) 8) but I really wish I coulda been at Sawlex :( ;) Looks like everybody had a super time. I did get to see the Baker truck and mill southbound on I-69 north of Indy today.
I have some new pix up at Tree Trends. To keep down the bandwidth on the Forum, I'll keep posting them here (http://www.dlarborist.com/treetrends/categories/sawlex/). I'll continue putting up more pix as I have time to edit them. However, I have a big consulting job this week, so I may not finish until next weekend. I know Pigman and DRBuck have a lot of pix, so I hope they get some more up.
Your Welcome Jeff ,
It was a small contribution compared to some of our other members efforts for the booth .It was great to visit with old friends and meet new ones .
I think as far as the biggest group of people in attendence at Sawlex only the Amish came close .
Texas Ranger it had to be the camera angle or something . You know an optical conclusion . :D I have a little brother that is 2 inches taller than me
Ron Wenrich put a cool little deal together to test visitors to the Forum's booths abilities at hardwood lumber species identification. Winners, (well at least anyone that gave it the real college try), got a sample applicator bottle of Rust Reaper provided by Mike_P.
It was tough! In the bottom photo, Buzz Sawyer tries his skills as Ron sets him straight. ;)
How did I do? I ainta goona say. :-[

We did not stay at the Forestry Forum booth all the time. ::) We went out and looked at the mills at least once. ;). Harold is studying the Peterson mill and the others are solving the worlds problems. :D

Da boss was supposed ta pick up some of dem Logrite Tools fur me at da show too. I'm still waitin' on da proof dat he got um. Hope they don't get misplaced before they find their way to me. :-\
Here we have a picutre of "Team Peterson" You guys should see these two run a swingmill. It IS impressive. Captain and "Brownie" AKA Chris, AKA the guy that posts under "wife", Kerris's handle. :D
THese two fellows had big Forestry Forum logos on thier Hardhats as they were working the shootout. They not only got there and set up the Peterson display, they had the tent all set up and ready for us when we got there. Craig was also the fellow that set this all in motion. Captain, I am glad tyou did this. We really had a time. :)

About twenty of us met for breakfast Saturday. There was a Buffet place right across the parking lot from the Sawlex. They opened up late Saturday cause of all the Forum members running em out of food the day before.
Yes Bib, we did discuss your dinner and a show thread. :D

and thinking way to hard
(https://forestryforum.com/gallery/albums/userpics/12606/Think%20hard.jpg)
Just wish we could make it to the roast to meet more of you. Maybe next time.
Looking at the pic's it is suprising how many of you we saw but just did not know who you were at the time. I think the name tags should have been bigger or something.
Hey Furby,
Thanks for your help in loading the truck with our new ATS from Peterson. We did indeed make it home with everything intact. Jacob was afraid we looked like Hillbillies, but hey, we are. It was good to meet everyone.
Follow the link below to a page with links to close to 100 full size pictures from Sawlex. I tried to get pictures of all the FF members that were there as well as many photos of the shoot-out and vendor the displays.
This link will open a page of smaller thumbnail views. You can left click to open the image and view it, or right click and save-as to download the full size image file. All are JPG format and mostly about 1 megabyte size. The uncompressed JPGs are 1600 x 1200 and can be printed to 5x7 and still be pretty good.

I've got to admit, Buzzsawyer, that I'm doubting the whole plane incident ever occured.....with or WITHOUT snoppy. ;)
Fla_Deadheader you ain't scaring me at all.....the only pictures taken of me at the Shootout, was the one Jeff took of the earring/keychain fashion show, and the one EZ took of me slapping you up longside your head. :D
Roxie... 8) 8) 8)

I remember now......Lill Mz Stumpjumper took that one! :D I thought she was aiming for Pigman.....she caught me by surprise!
I wish Cowboy Bob would wear his cowboy hat too.....but, he's REAL attached to those caps. There are folks that he's known practically all his life that don't recognize him without the cap on! :D
I see that you caught the illusive Furby on camera too! Dr. Buck got a really good picture of him as well! THAT was an accomplishment!!
It was nice to meet you all, I think it was the best part of the event!!! ;) For a little perspective, the Paul Bunyan Festival ini Nelsonville,Ohio has a more festive feel to it. I liked the Sawlex event, but for a fun family outing the Bunyan Fest. will be on our list from now on. Sorry, I couldn't be there Saturday to meet more of you (family time).
REID
During the time I was at Sawlex, Food and Diet was mentioned. :o :o
Just retrieved this Morsel from an E-board that I joined. Might interest some folks. ::) ;D
And if you do that, it is not only cheaper, but healthier. Just one
example is that the local brands of snack food, made in Costa Rica [NOT
the Diana brands made in El Salvador] are preservative free! I have an
allergic reaction every single time I eat a Dorito or a Lays potato
chip, but if I eat Picaronas or Bravos, which are the local equivelent,
I have no reaction at all because there are no preservatives.
That is generaly true of the local brands here, most of them are made
without preservatives.
This means that I will buy the local Naturas spaghetti sauce rather than
the preservative rich imports.
I wish I could have been there to see all the mills in action and to meet some of you fine folks. :-[ The pictures are great. One thing I notice about at least several of you fine gentlemen is that your figure resembles mine! ;) To use a little carpentry humor............."You can tell a guy is on the level....when his bubble is in the middle." :D :D :D :D :D
I like this figure of mine, after all, I have been working on this for over 45 years. ;D
I see I was snapped without knowing it. Well, glad you got my good side, at least that the side that protrudes the most. Was real nice meeting all you folks.
When my friend and I got there we'd been traveling since about 6:00 am and didn't take time out for breakfast, so being real hungry and all the first thing we did was to look for a eatery. Being not totally stupid, I figured the best way to find a good eating place was to pick out an extra large fellow and ask the best place to get breakfast. Sure enough found one of them extra large guys at the fence watching the shoot out and true to life he told us where the best place to eat was. Gee, he even had a real nice wife along with him, cute as a button too. Wanna guess who the guy was?
Met FDH there for the first time and came home with 3 extra knees. Guess I'm ready for old age now. Glad to finally meet ya Harold.
My pleasure, Glenn
I'm tellin Tammy you called her a button. :D
