i was just wondering if anyone knew if hemlock was a good wood to make deck boards out of?  i've got cedar but am not planning on living here for too many more years, so was wondering about 6" wide hemlock instead. any  advise

Don't walk on it in your bare feet.  You might get splinters.   :D

I've always been told that most any wood is OK as long as it isn't exposed to the soil.  Hemlock makes a good barn siding and its been used as dimension lumber.  You just want to make sure there isn't any shake.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

My first deck was all hemlock, it lasted 10 yrs. Like Ron says no bare feet  :D. The new deck is PT, it will give you splinters too  :(.
