Hah, Dang, that's the same philosophy of most Boy Scouts on camping trips!

I can't understand their mothers, who get upset when their son comes back from a week of summer camp with 6 pair of clean underwear.  Don't they realize it's less laundry for them to do??  ;D

Kodiac .. bleu wool socks  Its all I have , its all I've had for 25 years .. just keep buying them . I'm probably the only one that ever got married in them .  :)
I do have a few other pairs of socks ...  they are the true wool type that my mother has knit for me . Now those will keep any feet warm no matter what the temp is .

After years of wearing out socks in a few days, having allergic reactions to the fibre, and developing rashes from tight elastics, my wife solved the problem for me. Now I wear custom-designed, fitted socks knit from home-spun nylon yarn ;D.

Quote    I do wear my 'industrial' thongs when I'm painting or tiling, though...

We were high in the Andes several years ago and the herdsman with our group wore "industrial thongs" looked like they were made from old tire retreads. Snow, rock, ice nothing stopped them. Made us mountaineers look like girls with all our fancy boots and gear. They went for ten days like that, up over 17,000 foot passes. AMAZING! Here is a family living as they did centuries ago at 15-16,000 ft. Cooking with llama dung in their stone house to the left.

The family is wearing industrial thongs. Reid
