I have some very large poplar. Would like to clear them out to make room for hardwoods to grow. Is there a market for logs or should I cut lumber and sell it green?

Look locally for your markets, be it logs or lumber. Cost to transport is likely your limitations on both.

Huge market for logs.  Where are you?

What are you looking to promote instead of poplar?

I believe he lives North of Ottawa
I think he is dealing with Trembling Aspen

I was wondering Aspen or Yellow Poplar (liriodendron tulipifera).  YP grows along the lake Erie in Canada.  Does well.  North of ottawa though...i think it would be Aspen.

I'm west of Ottawa 40 miles or so. I guess it must be Aspen then. I see some people here selling slabs and others selling rough cut lumber. I was thinking of milling some.

Out west it's sold as cheap firewood. Some people cutting it for wind boards etc. Lots goes to LP for siding products.
