OK   So I'm a little dense sometimes. ::)

I really don't understand the different " Quotes " things. Maybe they just don't work with a Mac ???

I've tried various combinations of actions and don't get the blue boxes ...don't get anything .

The only thing that works is copy and paste and I would have to add the who from  :-\

There is "Insert quote" visible when you are in reply mode ?
And there is a quote thing on each message on the forum ?

Can someone explain this all for the dumb (blonde ::) ) bunny ???

Thanks ;D

The "Quote" in the post window copies the entire message to the "Create post" window.  It includes the originator of the quote.   If you want to selectively quote, you have to delet the parts that you don't want without disrupting the "quote" banners.

The quote that is above the smileys, an icon looking like a square cartoon "speak" balloon, is used for copy and paste.
QuoteIf you paste the info that you want to quote into the creation window and hi-lite it with your cursor, when you click on the "balloon" icon, you will get the "quote" banners placed around the hi-lited material.
All this does is put the information in a blue box.  It doesn't show from whence the quote originated.  :)

Maybe Mac works differently. I don't know. :)

Jeff

Should not make a difference with a mac. If you can see other proples quotes you can do it yourself, you simply have to make sure that the text you are quoting is between quote tags.  When you use button on someones post, it will open up a posting window for you with the post already in between quote tags. Example (I can use code tags here to keep the quote tags from working)

I like those photos too. I had one come up of Tammy this morning so I clicked on it, then clicked on the search to find it on the forum. I remember it because it seems I took a thumping for this thread...

You can put your message before all of that, or after all of that, and you can remove anything in between the quote tags if you don't want to quote the hole thread (recommended)

You can also use simple quote tags by clicking on the icon (or simply typing the quote tags in) as tom mentioned that will indictate a quote, but not where it came from.

Above is a good example of what it called a "nested quote".  That is not an anomaly. Its something the forum allows or actually, the ability for it to occur can be deactivated.  I don't know what happens to existing nested quotes if I turn the function off. Since we are experimenting, I am going to see. ;D

I kinda think all those boxes in boxes is confusing and annoying, but I suppose at times has a function.

Don't know either, leave it off for a bit and see how it works out.

I've been enjoying the "Nested" quotes in this here thread.  I guess I'm easily amused.   ;D

And I'm glad this was a help to others ;D

I think the nested quotes are fun as long as they are short quotes.
