A female friend has been driving her car all shady-like.  Her hood wouldn't latch completely, and she had some nylon rope tying it down (hook to latch).  After getting a crazy quote to fix her shady exhaust leak, I told her to come over and I'd give her a second opinion.  While here I wanted to figure out what was wrong with the latch and see what parts were needed to fix.  I tried actuating the latch and could not get it to fully latch.  So I took the latch mechanism off and discovered that one of the latch arms inside was frozen up from rust.  I used some blue creeper and let it soak, then started working it, applied more bluecreeper and worked it until it moved freely, cleaned it with solvent, the re-oiled with bluecreeper.  Latch worked great after that and no more shady rope holding her hood.  I also lubed a few more obvious points and gave her a new mechanics applicator of bluecreeper for further maintenance on the latch.
Anything someone can design, I can sure figure out how to fix!
If I say it\\\\\\\'s going to take so long, multiply that by at least 3!
