Studies are showing that all those kids that got high self esteem because they all got trophies at the end of the soccer game and passed school with high grades and little effort feel entitled to the very best and will stay at home with mom and dad mooching until the perfect job with perfect pay comes along.  Folks, don't hold your breath that it is going to get any better until someone shuts off their gravy train.

Our experience hiring for a manufacturing plant in Ohio is that it's not really a matter of pay. It's a matter of finding the right people... and that's really tough to do. We pay above average for our area. Yes, higher pay might get more people to look at you, but that doesn't mean they'll stay, or even that you'll want them to.
