Stihl 661??

Was thinking of trying out a new 661. I'm currently running 2188 jonsereds. Just not to sure about them I guess. What's everyone's thoughts? I heard the 660s were better

I have mostly heard the opposite.  Sounds like the 661 is an improvement over the 660 in power, torque, smoothness.  I haven't run one but have a 660 and thought it was a dog out of the box.  Some work got it running better but still not what I would have expected from a 90cc saw.  From the sounds of what I have heard though, I want a 661!

I love my 661.  I use it for felling and with my alaskan chainsaw mill. It took a while put I have slabbed 20" wide slabs of red oak with it.

I have owned both as for the 660 and the 661 , the 661 is a far better saw , more torque, better vibs, and all round nicer saw to run. Is it better than the 2188 , in stock I would say yes but to say its better than the 2188 I will leave that one up to you to say

661 not a bad saw from what i have heard i love the jonsered but am up for trying the 661 out

I've heard the 661 is pretty good.

I've got a 660 so I just hope the introduction of the 661 won't mean I'll have trouble finding parts anytime soon.

ran a 660 bought a 661.  The 661 imo is lightyears better.  the anti vibe system is way better.  as far as ergonomics the saw just flat feels better in my hands.  way more torque.  I run mine with the 25" bar and you almost cant stall it.  I stalled it one time but I was trying to just to see what it had.  the m-tronic system is what I was skiddish of.  but so far I love it.  gas it start it run it.
