What year did they start putting the chain safety brake on chainsaws?

Around 1982. The first one I saw was the Pioneer P-28 which also had anti vibe. We couldn't give them away. :D

Exactly when I have no idea  but this link goes to a  saw I once owned made some time between 1970-71 .http://www.acresinternet.com/cscc.nsf/ed1d619968136da688256af40002b8f7/61f60e13d19afbf288256b62001a10e6?OpenDocument

I'll have to do some deep thinking, i can't remember the yr. The first one a had was way to touchy, the vibration from the saw would kick it off. It was the first thing to be unhooked on our saws, it drove you crazy, every 30 seconds you had to reset it. After running saws about 15 yrs with out one it was hard to get used to it.
Third generation logger, owner operator, 30 yrs felling experience with pole skidder. I got my neck broke back in 89, left me a quad. The wife kept the job going up to 96.

:D I think that happened a lot .I had the brake fly apart on a Mac PM 610 and the last I saw it was sitting on a stump in Knox county Ohio . Might still be there for all I know .
