Do you think maybe there might be a little tension in this cant. 2X8X10ft.

Yes.  unless you are sawing so slow that the top is drying faster than the bottom!   :)

doc henderson I might be slow but not that slow. Where the dive is it made a crack that could be heard over the mill.

I sawed some tree of heaven that did something like that.  good lessons!

I sawed a tree of heaven that the whole core hopped out of partway through the cut, that stuff is amazing  :D.

That cut let all the tension out. When I flipped it over there was no movement in the rest of the cuts.

Looks like a Poplar I was sawing a couple weeks ago. I cut a flat slab, and no sooner that I stacked it off the mill BANG it cracked lengthwise nearly in two. :o
Under bark there's boards and beams, somewhere in between.
Cuttin' while its green, through a steady sawdust stream.
I'm chasing the sawdust dream.

Resenator it is Poplar. I was mainly cutting spruce but buddy wanted some poplar for in the barn for his draft horses.
