18.4 34 to 18.4 26 means the width? Not as wide? Why are they better?

My 440 has 18.4-26's and my brothers 440 has 18.4-34's.. Mine has a much meaner stance and i think a much more stable feel than his

ga jones

It dropped the machine down 7 inches. Made it much more stable with 34s it would tip on the slightest grade..also hard on the planitaries.26 and 34 is the rim size.

what did you do with the 9 bolt 34 rims  iv been looking for 2-4 for the old case thanks

ga jones

It's 8 lug. Same as a 208 timberjack. That's what I got the rims from.Model 600 Franklin winch. Mechanical cable actuated.I have a model 32 hydraulic I'm going to put on it as soon as I come up with a control.

18.4 is the width, the 34 or 26 is the wheel size in diameter, so the tires would be the same width but machine would sit lower and have a better center of gravity, down side is less ground clearance.
well that didn't work

dont know what i was thinking with 9 lug still sleeping i ges

what kind of a control is it like a gearmatic ?

Thats a pulpwood special, i had one just like it. It'll pull better, ride better, climb better, just a all round better machine with 18.4-26's on it. It should use a little less fuel, also easier on the clutch and less chance of taking out a planetary.

Usually the pulpwood special is carrying a C5 sticker on it. This is like TF87 had before he bought the C6, his had a Gearmatic winch. The one i had, had a all mechanical Braden winch on it.

I thought it might be a pulpwood lumberjack. It has two different axles in it. Pr52 up front and a pr67 in back.the winch control is a hydraulic valve like a log splitter would use with detent. But it only has 300 psi. Need to find a reducer of some kind. The Franklin control is part of a block. The winch grapple and blade are all in it . The junk yard won't separate it they want 850. Bucks for. It.

I have 2 good rims 18.4 34 but 2 are junk I welded them a couple years ago. They were shot then. Someone ran with the lugs loose. 8 lug

My father had a C5 with a Tulsa hyd winch. Had a single controller, push it forward to release. The motor would bog down when you released the winch. It took time to get used to it when winching in, you don't have much feel with only a 8 inch lever. You had no idea how hard the winch was pulling. That Tulsa would break 9/16 like a piece of thread. With a little time you got the feel of it or i should say how to watch when winching.

I can't see whats on top of the canopy where the flex pipe is going so i don't know what it runs into. A steel i-beam the length of the canopy worked the best for me.

All that's on the canopy is a muffler from a power stroke pick up
