Ideas for maple cant

Just squared up a very nice hard maple log. 12x12 cant 8', clear.. How should I mill out the rest of it? Was thinking of a 2" thick table top.

Go with your thinking.  No way we can tell ya what to do, as we don't know your plans or situation for drying (very important that it isn't surface drying as we speak) and selling (or using for a project).

Throw some kitchen waste on it and wrap it in plastic. Let is sit there for a year or so and then mill what you want out of it.  ;D mmm spalted maple.
