Title: Looking for a low vibration chainsaw
Post by: straightree on February 28, 2009, 01:36:55 PM
I am looking for a new chainsaw, bigger than  what I have at present. It consists of a very small prunning Echo and a small Stihl, but as I am going into bigger trees, I need a bigger saw. I have tried Husqvarna 55 and have found it very smooth, and liked it. Nevertheless, looking at specs I see that Husqvarna 346 xp is rated better, vibration wise.

Is there anyone around that has experience with these models? Also woul appretiate if somebody knows of some model in the 3,5 HP range that has low vibration, specially if there is something in Stihl.

Thanks in advance

The ms361 is real good saw. It will pull a 20" bar and chain just fine. Has low vibration and good power to weight ratio.

I've found that saws with spring suspensions were the lowest vibration saws I've used. The Stihl MS361 and MS441 are both spring, I believe. I haven't used the 441, but the 361 is a very nice saw to run.

Depending on dealer support in your area Dolmar makes a real smooth running saw too. I use a 7900 in my day to day falling activities here in PA, may be a bit big for your needs, but they make a 5100 model thats pretty snappy and smooth running. Just my 2 cents, Greg

I agree that the sthil saws with springs rather than rubber mounts are very low vibration.

My new Stihl 361 is extremely low vibration. The DanG thing won't run, very low vibes that way.  >:(

Most of the newer saws with spring anti vib systems are pretty good. The dolmar 6400/7300/7900 sure is a smooth platform, but so is the 361 and 441 stihls. Find some good local dealers that will let you try out certain saws.

My 575 husky is by far the smoothest saw I have ever had.  Very nice
