just think of the fun you could have had if it had developed some major mechanical problem while stuck.

Ya!  Like throwing a track would have livened things up.  ;)  Wouldn't be pretty.  :o

That's when a rubber-tired backhoe would have come in handy.  It would have been able to walk out into that field and pull that little dozer out of the hole.  ;D
