OK, not an "official" hat but one that is licensed by the U.S. Army.  Veteran's Day came and went and I had the same empty feeling about not having anything to wear signifying my service.  I was neither a high ranking nor a highly decorated soldier but I do have the "hardware" but nothing to pin it to and wear, so I found and ordered a hat.

I now have a place for the "hardware" and a Google Search found Third Army, 31st and 155th Infantry Division sew on patches plus a Waving American Flag.

I'm glad you found it and thank you for your service.  That's a nice looking hat with meaning to be proud of for sure  :).

Yes TR, I was a radio operator in an Engineer Battalion.  That plus fixing anything that was broke or had never been placed into service.  I even straightened and leaded a front fender from a deuce and a half that the Lieutenant wrecked.

I have verification that all if my cloth patches have been shipped and should be here next week.  Finding them all was amazing since the 31st Dixie Division was decommissioned in the early 60's.

My dad is a year older than you and was also a radio operator but can't tell you what outfit he was in, he got close a time or two, they were pulling men out of his unit but he never was shipped overseas.

Have you joined 'Together we served'?  Also there are sites that you can get racks and medals from.  I just went to my 25 year Desert Storm Reunion and had a set of minimedals done up so I could wear them at the ball.

Here's the wife and I at the ball, we had a 'ball' pun intended! :D

I was able to get 3rd Army, 31st Division, and Cuban Missile Crisis patches so my hat is now complete.  I got a Waving U. S. Flag, but there was nowhere suitable to put it.

3rd Army & Cuban Missle Crisis.  Combat Engineer and Expert Rifle pins.

31st Dixie Division.  (The 31st was decommissioned in 1968)  U. S. and Specialist 5 (rank) pins.

So it is homemade and not an "official" uniform or anything, but at least I how have something to wear on Veteran's Day, etc. signifying my service.
