I hate to ask but I'm really curious about this one
It's a massive tree and seems like other trees don't grow close to it
It must be 100' tall and 5' diameter
I was thinking ash but I'm not sure
On the border of south western and south central Ontario
Thanks for taking a look

Bark does look like ash.   The branches do not or at least in this view.   Plenty of smarter people will chime in by tomorrow

Some photos in better light might help. The very straight stature bring tulip to mind. Do the grooves in the bark look white ?

That looks like a ash tree to me

Is the branching alternating or opposite?

Hard to tell if alternating or opposite
No low branches
I don't see any white
Again thanks for your help

Just a straight on close-up photo of the bark in good light could be helpful.
