the bobcat will reach streight over the rail and place the log in the cradle, and pick it back up agin no trouble.

with big logs (ones the bobcat cant lift) over 1 ton or so, we wouldnt be splitting so i have my bolsters in, we just wind the rails up ad poke it in underneath.

easy as that.
